EP Agents - Panama Ship Agency - Manager / Supervisor

Location: Panama

Position Overview:

You will be responsible for overseeing all operations related to vessel port calls and transits through the canal. This role requires exceptional problem-solving skills, effective communication with clients, and the ability to supervise a team to ensure efficient operations. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining client satisfaction, optimizing port calls, and developing business opportunities for a Panama shipping agency.

Key Responsibilities:

Problem Solving:

  • Address and resolve all issues that arise during vessel port calls or transits through the Canal promptly and effectively.
  • Implement strategic solutions to ensure smooth operations and minimize disruptions.

Transit and Port Call Planning:

  • Plan and supervise all aspects of vessel transits and port calls, including scheduling, coordination with port authorities, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure adherence to timelines and regulatory requirements to facilitate efficient operations.

Client Interaction:

  • Maintain professional communication with clients on a daily basis via email and phone.
  • Address client inquiries, provide updates on vessel movements, and offer assistance as needed to maintain strong client relationships.

Agency Availability:

  • Remain available 24/7 to address agency-related inquiries and emergencies, ensuring prompt response and resolution.

Team Management:

  • Manage & work with the agency team to ensure high performance and adherence to company standards.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and provide guidance and support as needed.

Client Portfolio Development:

  • Develop and maintain the agency's client portfolio by identifying new business opportunities and fostering existing client relationships.
  • Conduct regular meetings and presentations to showcase services and secure new contracts.

Travel:

  • Be available and willing to travel to meet with clients and prospects, both domestically and internationally, to build and maintain relationships and explore business opportunities.

Internal Systems Development:

  • Develop and maintain internal reporting and operating systems necessary for the agency's efficient functioning.
  • Implement process improvements and technology solutions to streamline operations and enhance productivity.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Maritime, or a related field.
  • Commercial experience in Agency management, preferably with a client portfolio.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with the capacity to make quick decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in team management and development.
  • Strategic thinking and business acumen, with a focus on identifying and capitalizing on opportunities for growth.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours and travel as required.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools for reporting and operations management.
